Campagnolo Super Record EPS 12-speed: Details and first-ride review

It was hardly a secret that Campagnolo would upgrade its Super Record EPS electronic groupset to 12-speed; the company even told us that outright a few months ago, and sponsored riders have already been using it since the start of the season. But now it’s finally here, and we have all the details. Updated Ergopower … The post Campagnolo Super Record EPS 12-speed: Details and first-ride review appeared first on CyclingTips .

Campagnolo launches 12-speed Super Record EPS

Pete Muir Thursday, March 14, 2019 - 10:48 Electronic shifting comes to the Italian brand’s top-tier groupset TBC In 2018 Campagnolo surprised the world by being the first of the big three groupset manufacturers to produce a 12-speed groupset for the road. Now in 2019, it has taken the next step by launching the electronic EPS version of Super Record. Super Record EPS will be available in both rim brake and disc brake formats and, for now, only the top-tier groupset is getting the electronic treatment, with next-level-down Record remaining as mechanical 12-speed only. As expected, the new EPS groupset maintains all the same features as the mechanical version of Super Record, combined with the electro-gizmology of the established 11-speed EPS set-up. That, however, doesn’t mean that the old electronic derailleurs and shifters have simply been bolted on to the new crankset and cassette. The move to 12-speed has required ...

1X drivetrains come to the WorldTour at cobbled Classics

Only one chainring means now front derailleur is needed

Mads Pedersen ( Trek-Segafredo ) lined up in Gent, Belgium for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad equipped with a 1X drivetrain setup. The Danish rider - who finished second at last year's Tour of Flanders - started the first cobbled Classic of 2019 aboard a Trek Madone Disc. The bike was running the new SRAM RED eTap AXS 12-speed groupset , with Pedersen opting to race without a front derailleur and a single 48-tooth chainring. Pedersen's Trek-Segafredo teammates, Katusha-Alpecin, CCC-Liv and Canyon-SRAM were all using the new 12-speed groupset from SRAM, however, on the start line it appeared that just Pedersen was running the 1X setup. The extra cog on the rear cassette from the 12-speed groupset allows for a similar gear range as traditional double chainring combination of 53/11 using just a single chainring and with less extreme jumps than previous 1X drivetrains. Pedersen told Cyclingnews on the start line in ...

Specialized claims 99g S-Works EXOS 99 is lightest production shoe ever made

This article first appeared on BikeRadar . Specialized has unveiled two new road shoes, the S-Works EXOS and the S-Works EXOS 99, claiming the limited-edition 99 is the lightest production shoe ever made. The 150g EXOS model has a single Boa dial and were first spotted on the feet of Bora-Hansgrohe and Deceuninck-QuickStep riders' feet at the Tour Down Under, Vuelta a San Juan and, most recently, the UAE Tour. Constructed predominantly from a Dyneema Mesh material, the shoes can achieve low weight while retaining hold and support for greater power transfer. The S-Works EXOS 99 weighs just 99g per foot for a size 42. Opting for lighter weight laces over a Boa dial, the shoes also feature titanium cleat bolts in the search for the ultimate lightweight shoe. Despite these weight saving measures, the carbon sole retains high levels of stiffness and also features a replaceable heel pad. SRAM ...

Richie Porte's Trek Madone SLR 9 Disc eTap — gallery

This article first appeared on Cyclingnews . Richie Porte ( Trek-Segafredo ) began his 2019 season with a new team, a new bike and an unreleased groupset. SRAM's new 12-speed RED eTap AXS groupset was still unreleased at the race — where the Tasmanian finished second on general classification and won the final stage — but was being used by the entire Trek-Segafredo and Katusha-Alpecin squads, as well as Trek-Segafredo and CCC Team in the Santos Women's Tour Down Under. SRAM 12-speed RED eTap AXS HRD review Trek-Segafredo announce SRAM partnership The new groupset opens up new gearing combinations as the extra cog allows for a 10-tooth option on the cassette, as well as a larger bottom gear. Porte opted for the 50/37 chainring option combined with a 10-28t cassette, a similar combination to traditional racing gearing of 53/39x11-25. Meet the hot new bikes already wearing SRAM's 12-speed eTap AXS groupset

The launch of the new SRAM RED eTap AXS 12-speed groupset has made headlines in the cycling world and it comes as no surprise that, following its release, some of the biggest brands are releasing their flagship framesets draped in these exciting new parts. SRAM 12-speed RED eTap AXS HRD review 3T launch full bike range equipped with SRAM 12-speed Our senior tech editor Warren Rossiter has been riding the groupset for around three months now and has given SRAM’s range-topping product a perfect, five-star review . Alongside the five-star performance is a five-star price tag, with SRAM retailing the groupset for a whopping £3,349 / $3,648 / €3,618. As you might expect, frame manufacturers have reserved their best — and equally most expensive — models to be paired with the groupset. Bike brands start to roll out Sram Red eTap AXS-equipped bikes

Sam Challis 6 Feb 2019 The Specialized Tarmac, Venge and the BMC Teammachine all get the 12-speed treatment and tasty paint schemes to match The 12-speed Sram eTap AXS groupset has now been officially released so, right on cue, the bike industry’s big names are presenting their eTap AXS-equipped models. Most brands offer Dura-Ace Di2 equivalents already so to distinguish the new options beyond the groupset, brands have devised eTap AXS-specific paint jobs that aim to complement the chrome-and-carbon looks of the groupset. BMC has chosen to match the black and carbon elements of the groupset by rolling out a stealthy, black-grey Teammachine SLR01 Disc while Specialized has taken a bolder approach, opting to accent the polished aluminium parts of eTap AXS with a shining silver scheme. It is a move that, in our opinion, suits the redesigned chainset of the groupset particularly well. Image 3 of 5 Image 3 ...

Without a doubt, SRAM’s new Red eTap AXS wireless road groupset will be talked about because of its move to a 12-speed cassette. RockShox Reverb AXS wireless dropper post first ride review

SRAM's all-new wireless Reverb AXS dropper post comes with a slight weight penalty over the mechanical equivalent and certainly isn't cheap at £700 / $800 / €800, but the ease of setup and, so far, the flawless function has absolutely won me over. SRAM X01 Eagle AXS wireless drivetrain review SRAM Red eTap AXS wireless drivetrain review You may well have seen certain bikes at various races or events during 2018 sporting the new Reverb AXS post, but that said, sightings were rare at best and nowhere near as common as that of the new Eagle AXS drivetrain. As it turns out, SRAM has actually been cooking up this wireless gem since as far back as 2016 and, as of right now, it’s officially available to the public. I flew to Tucson, Arizona for a few days in a bid to get to know the new Reverb AXS a little ...

SRAM 12-speed RED eTap AXS HRD review

SRAM 12-speed RED eTap AXS HRD review

SRAM's new wireless RED eTap AXS road groupset has 12 gears, approaches road gearing in a totally new way, is available in either 1x or 2x setups and features a clutch. It's set to cost £3,349 / $3,648 / €3,618 for the 2x HRD RED version we have tested over the last few months. In the world of bike tech ‘game-changing’ is a hyperbolic phrase that gets bandied left, right and centre. Small gains in aerodynamics here or weight loss from a bike’s chassis there are often breathlessly described as game-changing, when in fact they’re merely reasonable, expected gains brought about through refinement by clever sorts. Which means it could be a complete folly for us to describe SRAM’s new eTap AXS shifting system in such terms. Then again, might it just live up to the hype? SRAM competitor Campagnolo might well have got to 12-speed first, but with the ...
